Guptill scoops top awards at NZ Cricket awards – Cricket News Update
New Zealand opening batsman, Martin Guptill, was the big winner at the annual http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Richard-John-Hadlee-c85134 Medal.
The panel, which comprised of former national selector http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bryan-c48753 Waddle, also named the 26-year-old as the ODI and T20 Player of the Year, along with winning the Redpath Cup for being the best
batsman in first-class cricket.
Guptill was arguably the most consistent batter for the Kiwi during the voting period, which was between September 1, 2011 and August 31, 2012. He scored 681 runs in 11 Tests, along with making 579 and 454 runs in 13 ODIs and T20s respectively.
David White, the Kiwi chief Executive, applauded Guptill’s effort over the past year and said the awards reflect his importance to the team.
