Former CSKA Moscow central midfielder, Rolan Gusev, has nullified his former club’s chances to win the Russian Premier League title despite their two points lead at the top of the table until now.
The Moscow-based club retained the leading spot on the league table courtesy to their 2-1 win against Mordovia Saransk at Luzhniki stadium and a 1-1 draw between Anzhi Makhachkala and Zenit St. Petersburg at Petrovsky stadium respectively.
Gusev insisted that he is happy for his former club to knock down their domestic rivals to hit the top-spot for now. However, he admitted that the Armeytsy will find it difficult to retain the lead particularly because of teams
such as Zenit and Anzhi respectively.
News in Russian media suggest CSKA attacking midfielder, Keisuke Honda, to make a move to one of the several linked club’s this winter. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 FC are reportedly eyeing the Japanese International, who has already scored nine
goals in all competitions this season.
Gusev revealed that the 26-year-old’s departure will not affect the Moscow-based club as Leonid Slutsky has decent replacements at his disposal.
And while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Seydou-Doumbia-c33175 is set to return after the winter break, Gusev tipped Slutsky to reinvest the money after selling Honda to a top European club in the near future.
“The team is balanced. They have a good goalkeeper with a reliable defence. The competition for the midfield place is strong. Doumbia is likely to be back when the championship resumes and Tomas Necid is developing a striking partnership
with Ahmed Musa.”
“So, I do not think that Honda’s departure will affect the team on a large scale. I do not think that there is no need to keep him until he loses his market value.”
“But even he stays or leave, CSKA are not likely to win the league title this season.” The Russian Cup winner was quoted as saying.
The 35-year-old went on to deny the reports suggesting him to be a part of Slutsky’s management team, saying that he has not think about returning to pitch after retirement.
