  1. it may or may not be the most expensive (not if you adjust for dollar rate & inflation) I think  the great Hurricane of 1900 which hit Galveston will be most expensive or at least most lives lost....that one hit dead on with no warnings like we have today and loss of life was a lot more than we will see today (yes we have learned a few things)...My prayers are with anyone in the path.

  2. I don't believe it is the worst since 1800's

  3. I don't know what the Mayor has said, but Gustav is certainly not the worst hurricane meteorologists have seen.  There have been many more worse ones, such as Andrew, Gilbert, Katrina, Wilma, the Labor Day hurricane of 1935 and the great Galveston hurricane of 1900, just to name a few.

Western Mississippi will see some effect from Gustav, especially the southwest portion, but it does not look like it will be at the level of Katrina.   Mostly some heavy rains and gusty winds.

  4. i dont think so. i mean it weakened back down to a catagory 3 this morning and i dont think it is going to be as bad as they think. i think that katrina was a lot worse than this hurricane. plus they say that hurricans are stronger today than ever because global warming makes them stronger than they used to be
