Gut Larchenhof hosts the BMW International Open, courses are not bigger than golfers!
Germany is proudly hosting the 2012 BMW International Open, at the Gut Larchenhof course designed by legendary Jack Nicklaus.
After the US Open, golf courses have become the centre of attention when it comes to big names in the world of golf.
Tiger Woods, Luke Donald or Rory McIlroy, they have all been complaining about course design being tough for the current golf era.
Former world number one McIlroy was one of the victims of the Olympic club. However, his form in the entire US Open was terrible. When asked, he blamed the course being too tough for him.
“It's just so tough here if you put yourself out of position at all, it's tough to make your pars from there, I was just too many times in the wrong position off the tee or with my second shot. When you're trying to play catch-up on this golf course, it's
very hard,” said the world number 2.
Bubba Watson is another name who clearly mentioned the golf course being better than his craft and concluded that it is impossible for him to win at the Olympic Club.
“It's a lot better than I am, that golf course is too tough for me,” said Watson.
The current world number one and apparently, Queen’s disappointing favourite, Luke Donald was among the top golfers who could not cope up with the golf course and failed to perform at the US Open.
“There aren't that many opportunities out there. Some hole locations with the firmness of the greens and the direction of the wind, the best case you're going to do is 20 feet... So it's a challenge,” said Donald.
The BMW International Open will be played at the Gut Larchenhof course, which is designed by “The Golden Bear”. It is thought to be the toughest course in the entire world and it will be a challenge for golfers to mark their presence at the German course.
At the end of the day, it is the quality of golf that a golfer portrays that matters the most. Courses have always been tough and unpredictable, it is the golfer that makes the course a winning ground with precision and magic.
