The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 midfielder has expressed confidence that his side will be able to survive relegation scare, and will finish above the danger zone come the end of the 2012/13 season.
Reading midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Guthrie, has expressed confidence ahead of his side’s upcoming English Premier League game against West Ham United. The two sides will meet at Madejski Stadium on Saturday, December 29.
The Royals have thus far disappointed their fans by claiming abysmal showings in the English top flight. Sitting at the 19th spot in the league standings, they are six points adrift of the safety zone.
And the 25-year-old has admitted that every league game is extremely important for his side. The former Newcastle United midfielder has also insisted that his side must claim good results on the road as well if they are to avoid relegation to Npower Championship
come the end of the season.
“Every game is a big game for us now this season. Personally, I'm just looking at 17th place and making sure they don't get too far away from us. At home we've got points and we need to be solid away from home - like we were at City where we were unlucky”,
Guthrie said while talking to reporters.
The highly talented midfielder, who arrived at Madejski Stadium before the start of the ongoing 2012/13 campaign, went on to admit that his side’s upcoming game against the Hammers is a big match.
“West Ham is a big game. Obviously they came up last season and did well but it's an encouraging two games we've had”, Guthrie added.
In spite of trailing the safety zone by six points, the 25-year-old has insisted that all of his teammates along with the management are confident that they will manage to prolong their stay in the highest echelons of English football.
“At the end of the day, it's [17th position in the Premier League] only six points away and two games go quick in this league, so we're not at panic stations”, Guthrie concluded.
The English midfielder has thus far represented the Royals in seven Premier League games, and has managed to hit the back of the net on one occasion as well.
