Guti keen on a move away from Madrid
Change leads to change that is just natural. Following a big change at the top at Real Madrid with Jose Mourinho’s arrival as the manager, there are several players at the club Jose is excited to have but at the same time there are a few who may not be part of his plans.
Real Madrid midfielder Guti, who has been part of the team since he was a teenager time, is believed to have lost his touch to some degree. He is linked with a move to Besiktas and is excited about the prospect of moving to the Turkish team, but he said that the final decision will be made by his club.
Guti is now 33 years old and has spent his entire career at Real Madrid, but now he thinks it is the right time to finally make a move and taste a different brand of football. Besiktas had long been perusing the Spanish Midfielder but he did not show much interest. Now, though his place in the Madrid team is doubtful Guti has decided he wants to move.
While talking to a Spanish newspaper Guti said that he is a Real Madrid player and will remain as such until something becomes official. He said that even if he makes a move before the season starts he would always have Real Madrid in his heart and that is something that can never change. Guti added that he grew up in Madrid and learnt everything that he knows about football at Real so it will always be the most special club for him. He said there has been some good interest from the Turkish club and he will actually love to go and try his skills in a new country. Guti reiterated that even though he does want to go there but the final decision still lies with his club and he will not do anything without the club’s consent. Guti added that one of the things about Besiktas that has made him want to move there is their Manager Bernd Schuster.
Guti said that Schuster is a very clever manager and has raised the game at Besiktas since taking over. He said that Schuster never woks on short term plans and he is sure that he has a long term strategy for the club. Guti said that if he is able to be part of a club that is on its way up in Europe then it would be an amazing way to play his final years of football.
Guti currently has one year left on his contract with Real Madrid, so the club really would be the final authority on the move.
The midfielder was asked whether a move away from Madrid was inevitable regardless of interest from Besiktas. He said that he cannot answer that with authority for now. He added that he has to talk to the higher authorities at Real Madrid that includes the General Manager Valdano and the President of the club Florentino Perez and only then he would be able to give a final word on that.
Guti was in the past years one of the most integral parts of Real Madrid set up; a team that has always had international imports with big price tags and huge reputations. It is a testimony to his ability that he has been able to get a starting spot more times than not being able to get one over the years. However, now with the age also not on his side Guti is finding it hard to feature regularly in the team. If the move to Besiktas does not fall through Guti may yet be heading to England if reports are to be believed.
