The Argentinian midfielder recently gave an in-depth and casual interview where he discussed the spirit and moods behind the scenes and discussed life at Tyneside over the course of the past 4 seasons.
The player spoke about all the different managers that came and went, and how he developed under them. He also poked fun at all the different players in the squad, and also discussed the team’s prospects this season.
Having had a poor start to the season, Newcastle are currently 14th on the league table. This lies in direct contrast to their impressive 5th place finish last season, where they defied expectations and shocked everyone as they managed
wins against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.
However, this season has surprisingly been a totally different story. Newcastle have struggled in games, and have found it difficult to get results.
Manager Alan Pardew failed to make headway in the summer transfer window, signing only Ajax’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vurnon-Anita-c36486 as their major summer addition. While other teams signed players and strengthened their ranks, Newcastle failed to do so. Perhaps Pardew was satisfied
with his squad, and did not want to disrupt the harmony of it.
However, the team has suffered major setbacks as key players have been sidelined due to long-term injuries and suspensions have kept other players out. Pardew has promised the fans that he will sign players in the January transfer window as Newcastle look
to climb up the league table.
Jonas Gutierrez was full of praise for the manager, and admires his passion for football and the club. Speaking in the interview, he discussed his game and the manager’s approach. Gutierrez said:
“I play most of my best games on the left wing but because of the injuries we’ve had this season I’ve had to be more in the middle of midfield and it has been harder.”
The winger then compared Pardew to Maradona and added:
“In some ways, Alan Pardew is a bit like Diego Maradona. They are different people but they are both passionate about football. They have a real thing for it, they think about it in the same way.”
