Newcastle United midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonas-c18967 Gutierrez is eagerly awaiting the derby clash against Sunderland next week, and insists his team are ready to put up a fight.
The midfielder says that his teammates are well aware of the importance of the derby clash, and will fight as they look to assert their dominance over their local rivals.
Having failed to make an impact so far this season, Newcastle have struggled to find form. Despite managing results every now and then, the team has failed to live up to the hype and expectation that was placed on it following last season’s fifth place finish.
The club had been the surprise package last season, managing impressive victories over the likes of Manchester United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812 and Papiss Demba Cisse, who all helped the club up the
league table.
This time around, Newcastle haven’t exactly enjoyed the same fortunes. Fresh from an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Manchester United at home, the Magpies will be looking to bounce back, and what better way to do so than with a victory over your local
rivals?
The club has enjoyed dominance over Sunderland in recent seasons, with the most memorable victory being the 5-1 thrashing in the 2010/2011 season.
Midfielder Jonas Gutierrez is relishing the clash, and insists that the club’s foreign players understand the significance of the match, and will put in every ounce of effort to make sure the Magpies emerge victorious.
Alan Pardew is expected to field out a team containing mostly foreign players against Sunderland next week in a game that holds the utmost significance for the locals. Gutierrez said:
"I understand what the game means. It does not matter if you play well or the team plays fantastic football. The fans will want the three points. All of the players feel the same.”
"We know they will put us under pressure - as will their fans. So it will be really important to be really focused.”
"We have the chance to take out the things we did wrong from the last game and be better. We cannot make the same mistakes again."
