Newcastle United’s midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in their weekend fixture in order to cement their stay in the 6th spot.
The Magpies, who will host the Reds on Sunday, will aim to further distance themselves from the seventh placed Liverpool, having already opened up an eight point lead over the Merseyside team.
Newcastle will go into the match on a high having won their last two league matches against West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City.
Gutierrez viewed the match as an opportunity for the Magpies to further widen the gap on the Reds and urged his side to go for a strong finish to the season.
The Argentine said, "We know we can open up a gap over Liverpool. It’s going to be a big game for us, so we’re going to have to be fully focused. We need to get as many points as we can before the end of the season, it’s not over yet.”
The 28 year old believed that there is still a long way to go for the Magpies in the current season and stressed the need to build on their victory against West Brom. However, he mentioned that it was important that his side kept their composure.
The Magpies beat the Baggies 3-1 in their Premier League match at the Hawthorns and the Argentine also hailed the effort of his team mate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hatem-Ben-Arfa-c15884 during that match.
“We know all about Hatem. We know what he can do when he has the ball, and he did that [on Sunday]," he mentioned.
"People say that he can’t adapt to English football because it is too physical, too tough, but he found the right moment and the right space to cause problems.”
Newcastle are currently sixth in the league table, and a victory against Liverpool will further bolster their chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season. However, the Toon midfielder thinks that a win on Sunday will ensure that the Magpies
will finish ahead of the Reds at the end of the season.
Newcastle lost 3-1 to the Reds at Anfield earlier this season.
