The Dutch tactician has lamented Anzhi Makhachkala’s 3-1 defeat in the UEFA Europa League against the Swiss sporting club at Stade de Suisse, Berne, on Thursday
Guus Hiddink’s men were denied a chance to extend their decent run in the UEFA Europa League group stages, as they went down to ten men against Young Boys on the away turf after their star striker, Lacina Traore, was sent off.
The Ivorian striker, who has already scored 4 goals in the European competition so far this season, picked up a yellow card in each half of the thrilling fixture at Stade de Suisse, Berne, on Thursday.
In the 69th minute of the enthralling European encounter, Traore fell in the opposition’s penalty box in hopes of getting a spot-kick. However, the referee booked the offender after describing the episode as a simulation
by the 21-year-old forward.
In aftermath of the outcome, Hiddink has blasted Traore’s questionable and unsporting behaviour on the pitch, insisting that the mercurial forward was rightly booked as there is no place for simulation in football.
The Dutch tactician, who joined the Russian Premier League club this January, admitted that Traore’s sending off troubled him in making some of the key decisions in the European fixture.
“We created enough chances in the first-half but we lose hope after the linesman denied what looked like a certain goal. After the break, we missed two goals from the counterattacks.”
“Before the game, I said that we are in a complex group. It took us last match of the group stages to know out fate in the tournament. Young Boys outplayed us in the first twenty minutes after showing some brilliant game of football.”
“To progress to the next round was very important to us. But I am disappointed with Traore, who should have been more disciplined," the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 FC and Real Betis manager was quoted as saying.
Hiddink went on to tell that he had to replace http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Odil-Ahmedov-c28307 and Lassana Diarra, who started the group stage match after recovering from respective injuries, after the Ivorian national received his marching orders.
