Guus Hiddink will not return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Turkey-c3026’s national team manager Guus Hiddink has ruled out a possible return to the Premier League, claiming that he is too old to coach at club level. It was believed that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was looking to bring in the Dutchman to replace Carlo
Ancelotti in the manager’s chair at Stamford Bridge.
Hiddink became the interim Chelsea boss for three months during the 2008-09 season, leading the club to an F.A. Cup title during his short time in charge. He turned down the opportunity to take over as long-term coach at the time, choosing instead to return
to his duties as the manager of the Russian national team.
Hiddink is currently managing the Turkish national squad, and things aren’t going so well for him so far. The 64-year-old is under intense pressure following three consecutive defeats, including a shock loss to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Azerbaijan-c2845 in the Euro 2012 qualifiers. If
Turkey lose to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Austria-c2844 on 29th March, they will fail to qualify for the competition, and it is believed that the outcome of that match will decide Hiddink’s fate as Turkey’s national coach.
With Chelsea in dire straits in the Barclays Premier League this season, there were reports that the Dutchman was primed for a return to Stamford Bridge. However, Hiddink has refuted rumours of his return to Chelsea, even if he does eventually lose his current
job. The 64-year old claims he just does not have the energy to coach at club level anymore.
A source close to the Dutchman said, “He (Hiddink) doesn’t want to go back to club football. I know the impact that Chelsea have on him but if he’s a club manager he wants to be on the pitch every day six days a week. He thinks that at his age being on the
pitch six days a week for two to three seasons is not possible.”
The source added, “If he goes to a club he wants to build something and doesn’t want to go for one year. He wants to go for two to three seasons. At his age, that is the main reason why he doesn’t want a club job.”
Turkey will be in a strong position to finish second in their group should they win against Austria on 29th March.
