Guus Hiddink’s agent denies any chance of him returning to Chelsea
Despite countless rumours, former Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink will not be returning to Chelsea just in case, current http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager, Carlo Ancelotti leaves. Cees van Nieuwenhuizen, Hiddink’s agent, revealed that a move back to Stamford
Bridge was close to impossible at this stage. This speculation became known after a poor run of form by the Blues in the English Premier League.
Hiddink spent some five months being in charge at Stamford Bridge, during which he won the FA Cup. He took over from sacked managed Luiz Felipe Scolari, who failed to live up to Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich’s expectations. The
only reason he took over the club was because of his close friendship with Abramovich, and delivered what was considered ‘impossible’ at that stage.
However, Hiddink surprised everyone when he led the club in turmoil to a FA Cup victory and a Champions League semi-final, in 2009. The Blues lost to Barcelona, in what was a controversial fixture, and finished third on the English
Premier League table, which ensured them a place in next season’s Champions League.
The Blues defeat to London rivals Arsenal, this season, left them at fifth place in the table, and even though a 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers helped them up to fourth place, they are still not, where they should be. This has led
to countless rumours of Ancelotti being shown the door by Abramovich. If that is to happen, the spot for manager will be open and Hiddink will be the most preferred candidate.
However, recent reports reveal that Abramovich has confirmed that the Italian manager is there to stay at Stamford Bridge. Cees van Nieuwenhuizen also spoke on the issue, saying that there was no possibility of the Dutch manager
going back to the London club. Hiddink is contracted to the Turkey national team until 2012 and he will not be taking up a second job.
Van Nieuwenhuizen spoke to the media about Hiddink and his chances on returning to Stamford Bridge. He said, “I consider that as impossible. It was much easier before [in 2009] for us to come to an agreement with the Russian Federation,
as his job there was partly paid for by Abramovich. We were able to look at it in a different way.”
He added, “Now it is quite a challenge for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Turkey-c3026 to achieve qualification to Euro 2012. I think the Turkish Federation would never allow him to do a double job. And Guus would never consider walking out on the Turkish Federation
to come to London. He enjoyed very much his time at Chelsea. But there is no chance, no chance, of him going back.”
