Question:

Guy Senior Jazz/Lyrical Dance Solo Song?

I'm desperately searching for a senior solo song. I'm open to any suggestions, fast or slow, lyrical/contemporary or jazz. Right now I'm thinking I'd be better off with someone quicker or faster. I want to choreograph something quirky with lots of musicality to really showcase not only my skills but my choreography as well. Any suggestions are welcome! Preferably something more unknown. (And by quirky I mean something similar to Sonya Tayeh and that style-- but not so... crazy)

  1. Roisin Murphy, the Ting Tings.. I particularly like "Like Knives" by the Fashion. There's so many that I can't think of right now. =\

  2. I love Sonya Tayeh's choreography!

Personally, for a dance with a lot of musicality that's quite quirky, I would use a song that's just instrumental. That way the focus is mainly on your choreography with the music instead of the words of the song.

  3. "Grace Kelly" by Mika.. its funny but I think it would be good to dance too... it has a dance refrence in it too

  4. im not sure what songs but what helps me find songs for my solos are i just look up bands on itunes or something and look for the type of speed, or lyrics. hope i helped

  5. Time after time by rob thomas....the acoustic version

acoustic versions are usually a sure thing with lyrical dance. Just find a song you like and then search for the acoustic version, you will be suprised. Also search for different artists that did a cover to the song. good luck!
