Guyana beat Barbados to qualify for Champions League 2010
Guyana confirmed its place in the 2010 Champions League by winning the Caribbean T20 Championship after defeating Barbados at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain on Saturday. Barbados’ twenty over total of 134 for five was chased by Guyana on the penultimate ball of the game with a wicket in hand.

After Edwards’ dismissal, Alcindo Holder came to the crease to join Carter in his assault. Both the players added 31 runs to the team’s total for the third wicket partnership. On the last ball of 15th over, Holder came down the wicket to push a fine delivery from Bishoo over the boundary but mistimed it into the hands of Barnwell standing at the deep midwicket. Holder’s 17 balls innings earned him 14 runs including two boundaries.
Bishoo struck back an over later as he sent Dwayne Smith back to the pavilion after having caught by Foo at long-on. Bishoo scored 2 runs from 5 balls. Smith’s dismissal took the wicketkeeper batsman Carlo Morris to the crease. Morris smashed a muscular six to Lennox Cush over the long-off before he was bowled by the bowler on the next delivery, leaving Barbados at 107 for 5 on the board. His 4-ball stay at the crease added seven runs to the scorecard. Jonathan Carter and Larry Babb took Barbados to a total of 134 by the end of the allotted 20 overs. Carter completed his half-century in the final over and remained unbeaten at 57 from 62 balls. His fine knock of 57 included four lofty boundaries and a six. Cush and Bishoo took 2 wickets each while Barnwell sacked only one opposition batsman.
