Guyana manager credits Foo, Sarwan for CLT20 qualification
Guyanese cricket manager, Carl http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Moore-c77694 has professed his hope that his side will be able to do in this year’s edition of the Champions League T20 what Trinidad and Tobago did in the previous edition of the tournament.
Guyana qualified for the Champions League T20 by beating Barbados in the final of the domestic Caribbean T20 tournament.
In the previous season of the Champions League T20, Trinidad and Tobago stunned a lot of fans by entering the final of the tournament, before going down to the eventual winner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 this year.
Moore said that the team will now look to prepare even harder and at least equal Trinidad and Tobago’s achievement last year of getting to the final. He also added that the side had one month to prepare for the tournament and hoped that the Guyanese board will assist the side in every possible way.
The Champions League T20 gives substantial funds to the respective county board as participation fees, but in this case, it will be the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Cricket Board that stands to gain financially, not the Guyanese board.
Moore was all praise for two players in particular, Jonathan Foo and captain Ramnaresh Sarwan. Foo was one of the stars of the tournament and in the final, smashed a 17-ball 42 to guide his side to a win. He was dismissed only once in the tournament and scored 103 runs at the highest strike-rate of 210.
Moore also said that Sarwan’s captaincy inspired the side’s teamwork and that was the other reason behind their win.
The Champions League T20 will see ten cricket clubs battle it out for the ultimate glory and will start on September 10 this year. Guyana has been placed in the same group as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844 and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
