  1. My parents were told absolutely nothing.  Other adoptive parents were told lies.

Nowadays, I would hope they get a whole lot more information but still the secrecy and closed records (which occur even when all parties know each other!) keep the stigma and shame of adoption strong in the USA today.

  2. yes they do if they have that information.  why are you worried about that anyways?

  3. Yes they do.  They get their names, medical histories etc.

  4. if the homes know they will definitly give.

  5. yes they do, i am going thru adoption as wee speak. The adoption agency will give you all the info they have as long as it does not reveal any personal information to give away who they birth parents are, well thats how it works here in Australia.

  6. Many states allow adoptive parents non identifying information on the surrendering parents. I'm unsure of what foster - adopt situations are like, there must be some degree of exchanging information on eachother. Foster parents working with a situation of possible reunification to the natural family would have to know about the biological family.

The degree most likely varies from state to state to worker to worker in charge of the information.

I know that non identifying information varies and some caseworkers write down pages and pages and others get a couple sentences.

    Good luck!

to find out most of the laws ( i'm not done and not working on it for a few more months lmao. ) go to http://www.adopteerights.net and click on searching :)

  7. no

  8. Refer this site http://www.advocatekhoj.com/

  9. They do a little bit but not much usually

  10. Many do and many do not.... it depends.

If a baby was abandoned there might not be any information to give the adoptive parents...

Our children are siblings and their mother gave different information in every situation....  Even within the records we have there are different stories.... She even gave one of her children a last name she made up that had nothing to do with anything...

,....so it depends.....  I have known some adoptees who reunite and find out every story their adoptive parents told was true and other adoptees who found out every story their adoptive parents told was BS....

My ex husband was adopted through a HOME and after 40 some years he reunited and found that his adoptive parents had been given fairly accurate information.... My younger cousin was a different story and my aunt and uncle had been told she was the 11 baby and that her mother was disabled...when my cousin reunited she was told by her mother that she was baby 4 and the product of rape while she was married....

It all depends on who says what story to who and how it is recorded....

  12. Yes I believe so, because my adoptive mom got stuff about where my parents where all the time, but the ***** of a mom I had didn’t tell me about it at all I found out when  I was 18.
