  1. Some states do, some don't.

Some cities do even if the state doesn't.

Some states you only need to be 18 to serve in a bar.

If your family owns it any age is allowed in most states.

  2. You only need a liquor license to sell alcohol(i.e. liquor store, gas stations, etc) If you are under 21 then you cannot serve alcoholic beverages. Hostess' normally only seat and tell patrons specials. Not sure where you live, but that's how they do it in Calif.

  3. no. only the bar owner needs one. you just need to be old enough to serve liqour in your state and be able to show ID to prove it.

  4. Just need to be over 21

  5. That depends on where you live.  Some states require it, others do not.

  6. No.  Only the place your working for needs to have it. Also the age changes based on state you live in. Ex. FL you only have to be 18 to serve alcohol. Most places prefer it if  you have experience or have attended bar-tending school. If your trying to break into the world of bar-tending don't try apply at the busiest bar in your town because your probably not going to get in or will be overwhelmed very quickly. Bartenders can work for years before they can get the speed and accuracy needed. Try a local pub or something similar if your just starting out and ask to be a bar-back. As a bar-back you'll be doing more of the tedious work like restocking and cleaning bar equipment but you'll also get the chance to learn from the bartender. Trust me if your standing behind that bar you'll learn something as long as the bartender is not a total prick. And studying how to make drinks and such and learning what the tools are called before you apply wouldn't be a bad start either.
