Guys: What is the purpose of a "conquest"?

I don't understand why guys spend so much time and effort into a conquest with a girl and then once it is fulfilled they just slam the door on that and never talk to the girl again. I mean a whole year waiting for a conquest to be fulfilled with someone doesn't seem worth it to me. what's the purpose of a conquest? Do you not feel bad for using a girl that way? Did that girl mean anything to you other than a means to fulfil your conquest? I just don't understand. Explain to me please.

Men are competitive by nature. We can gain a strong interest in a challenge, only cause it's a challenge. Once that's gone, if we don't feel the person is worthy of a relationship, then we move on.

Now, women do this too, not just men. When a better guy comes along, you ditch the older one. A new challenge or conquest.
