Guys and dolls adelaide lament?

i have callback for adelaide but im not good sounding all nazely and singing deep. when i do that my voice cracks. does anyone have any good pointers? i can't help myself when i put so much pressure in my voice that it starts cracking and sounding too loud.

  1. First of all, don't ever perform in any way that hurts!

    See if there's some way that you can create the "feel" for the character by using good vocal technique, and singing in a way that is comfortable for you physically.  

    Think about it - if you get the part, it will be because they like the performance and want to hear that over and over.  If you audition in a way that hurts you or your voice, it might not hold up over the length of the show.  Don't risk long-term damage by trying to get away with poor vocal technique!

  3. The best thing you can do is not to try and replicate the sound she is making, but to make it funny using the same idea but your own version.  Control your loudness with breath and you should be able to sustain through the hard notes.  And give it character above all.  Break a leg!!  :0)
