  1. my answer is try to go on auto repair shop in your area

  2. What don't you think a girl could do the job?...i could but I'm nowhere near you...and wouldn't.

  3. You should try the yellow pages, not here.  Timing belts are simple but their replacement can sometimes get labor intensive because of things you have to remove to even get to them, in most cars.  So, unless you know a friend that will do it for free, you aren't going to get the job done for nothing.  However, depending on the vehicle, you can, more than likely do the job yourself.  If you have some mechanical ability, then it is very possible for you to do the job.

However, if you are going to make the effort, you should do it right.  Modern cars' timing belts can also have an idler pulley and a tensioner pulley, which should also be replaced, in order to prevent costly repairs and will make the new belt last much longer.

I would recommend....  If you plan on keeping this vehicle for a long period of time...  Obtaining a repair book on the vehicle.

There are also resources to help you, or at least let you know what will happen when a mechanic actually makes a repair, if you choose not to attempt the repair yourself.

It is best to start somewhere.  I have probably saved tens of thousands of dollars in repairs simply by making them myself.  However, I was a nuclear submarine mechanic for twelve years, which kind of helped out slightly.  But, people with not as much mechanical experience, can actually accomplish many repairs.  Otherwise, Universities would be offering doctorates for mechanical aptitude.... lol

I would recommend finding a friend who is mechanically inclined in order to, at the very least, start off with some base knowledge.

    Good luck!
