I am looking to buy a brand but I am not sure which one is going to be the greatest. Answers are very much appreciated. I think Arizona makes them but I want to know the best. Websites and specificness helps thank you. For those of you who don't know what Boardies are they are swimsuits for guys that surfers wear to dry fast when they are out of water. Also they hold you in.

  1. I've got some O'Neill, Ripcurl, Quicksilver, and some Old Navy ones.

All of them work well, but I'd probably recommend O'Neill or Ripcurl, as I tend to like thier designs better.

Here's a couple sites that have a few options.

  2. Does style or design matter much for you?  When I think of getting a pair of board shorts, that's what I think about first.  Then I think about brand.  Like a previous poster, I think Quiksilver is a very safe bet, and O'Neill, Rusty, Ripcurl, Hurley, Billabong, and others all work too.  I don't find there's much difference among them; for example, they're all made of essentially the same material so they'll all dry pretty quickly.  Oh, some shorts are longer than others and that's something that might convince you to buy one pair over another.

Personally, I tend to like board shorts with a velcro fly and a lace/string that you can tie.  I don't like ones that have an elastic waist.  Usually this then means that the shorts I choose don't have an inner lining to "hold your package in" but you can wear lots of things underneath to substitute for that, e.g. boxers, another swimsuit.  I'm actually not really sure what you mean by "board shorts holding you in".

In summary, I would select a pair with the best style/design in your opinion (including things such as colour, length of the short), made by almost any popular brand as listed in the answers to this question (e.g. Quiksilver).

Here's a site that'll start off your search:
