Guys used to name their cars and paint the name on them. How is that done

I am going to be building a 34 Ford 3 window coupe. I would like the paint job to either sport flames or pin striping. I also want to paint the car's name on each side somewhere.

Where were the names applied in the old days? Can it be done by a pinstriper or what? Can most body shops handle flames and/or custom pinstriping? Is there an easy DIY way to do it?

Thanks

  1. On the door or the bulged out fenders or above the doors; make your stencil or use photo shop program on your computer and play around with it first! when you find the right spot you will know!

Look for photos of antique cars on line or in old issue of auto magazines. If someone has done this before they are sure to show it off!

Just checking back to see other answers. Ya I like guy g's idea about the portfolio. Like I said before they will be proud to show you. If there not it should speak volumes to the lack of experience or quality.

  2. pin strippers can handle the name part. as for all body shop doing flame work noway. so check out a lot and ask to se there pro folio like an artist they take pride in there art and will have a pro folio to show off there accomplishments.
