Gwendoly Roley wins Women’s 200yard freestyle gold – High School State Championships
Gwendoly Roley of SEH won gold medal of the Women’s 200yard freestyle at the 2012 High School State Championships on Saturday, November 10.
Roley showed no mercy to her opponents in the eight-lap race and proved her mettle for the title of the race. With her unstoppable efforts in the freestyle discipline, Roley remained prominently ahead of her opponents in the race and occupied gold medal
of the event.
She stayed in a prominent lead over her opponents and surfaced on the finishing wall for gold medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 59.07 seconds.
The champion was followed by Madeli Gillman of BELL, who was 0.85 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing wall for silver medal by submitting a time of 1 minute and 59.92 seconds.
Gillman was followed by Hailey Rankin of PROSS, who was two body lengths behind and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 02.04 seconds for third position.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Gabr Godlewski of W.F, who was 0.85 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing wall for fourth position by posting an effort of 2 minutes and 02.89 seconds.
Godlewski was chased by Jayna VanStone of LW, who was only half a body length behind and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 03.42 seconds for fifth place.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Anneke Stoker of TUM, who remained 2.33 seconds apart and concluded her race in a time of 2 minutes and 05.75 seconds.
Similarly, Stoker was followed by Josep Hegeberg of SQUAL, who was 1.11 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and emerged on the wall as seventh fastest swimmer by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 06.86 seconds.
Last spot of the race was obtained by Jada Pearson of CAP, who was 0.26 seconds slower from her former finisher and settled on the wall as eighth position holder with an effort of 2 minutes and 07.12 seconds.
In addition, Roley was overjoyed with her gold clinching effort and received medal and accolade after the race.
