Gwladys Nocera fires 68 in third round of Dubai Masters
French Gwladys Nocera remained firm in the third round of Omega Dubai Ladies Masters 2012, shooting a 68 to take the third position.
Nocera made a cautious start at the Emirates Golf Club, Dubai, on Wednesday, posting a 68 in the opening round. She not only threatened most of the players in the top five, but she also cemented her position going in the second round.
The second round saw her maintain momentum on Thursday, helping her post the same 68.
Nocera started the third round in style, shooting four birdies. More importantly, the round went without a bogey, helping the French star cement position on the leaderboard.
She parred the first two holes and launched a birdie on the par-5 third hole. On the 9th, she once again let her fans see solid putting as she drained her second birdie of the day.
On the back nine, Nocera kept the momentum going all the way through. She shot birdies on the 10th and 18th hole, bringing her score to a 68.
Sharing her thoughts while speaking to the media about her stunning form, Nocera said that she was happy after gaining a foothold in the second round.
She said that perfect putting helped post big scores in the opening and second round.
“Yesterday I played pretty good. I missed two greens, but I was like really close to the green so I putted anyway. So I played really solid yesterday. It was obviously good putting,” she said of her first-round performance.
The ball-striking proved to be a little tricky for the LET (Ladies European Tour) on the second day. “Today I struggled a little bit with the ball‑striking. It wasn't as good as yesterday but I managed to miss on the good side and to make some good putts to come back for pars”.
Nocera said that since the course is suitable to her playing style, she is sure she can boost score in the final round.
Chinese Shanshan Feng did not look under pressure at all as she maintained her lead after posting a 67 on Friday. Feng grabbed an early lead with the help of a first-round 66 and kept it up in the second round as well.
