Gymnastics, cheerleading stunt question?

Hey guys I can do round offs, hand stands , cartwheels, and even back summer salts, and fowards. The thing is when I try to do a back hand spring I can not seem to force my self to do it, I can fall back intro a bridge and im scared my hands will give way when I land on them, even though I know I can land on them as I can do rounds offs, and cartwheels. Does anyone know how to stop this? and is the feeling of landing on hands similar?

  1. You could get a friend that already knows how to do one to spot you, or you can just try it!! Make sure that you have enough rotation, and just go for it. Don't stop and think and wait for a couple of seconds, this just gives you time to think about the skill and if you will actually be able to do it. Also, trying it on a trampoline first is very helpful, but don't do to many there: you could get used to the bounce, and then try to get that bounce on the ground. Just don't doubt yourself, and you should be fine. But a spot would be great in your situation.


  2. i used 2 b a cheerleader && did the same thing. but i did it in the grass once && landed on mii head. strangely,, it hardlii hurt. haha. but wut helped mii,, i dont do cheerleading anymor,, but i just used mats && kept trying 2 do it on there. i knew i could do it there,, soo just imagine urself on a mat.      && if u land on ur head. it doesnt hurt much.

    or try pretending 2 punch sum1 who u hate wen u do it soo u can make it stronger. haha.       thats wut our coach sed.

  3. well to correctly do a backhandspring with good form it takes lots of time. it took me probably 2 years to get it perfect and i went all the way to level 9 in gymnastics so i want at a lack for talent. so give it time. and work on ur body awarness and conditioning skills. u will build confidence. go to a tumbling class that has a gymnastics coach not a cheer coach. and it should help. if ur little the coach will be able to pick u up and show u what each position will look like in the bhs

    the thing is, you have to "not" think about it.

    don't overthink it, just concentrate on something else.
