Question:

Gymnastics: How to do hand springs, splits, etc...?

I've been stretching for about two weeks now doing things like bending my back, butterfly stretching, toe touches, and all that good stuff. Also, I am capable of holding a hand stand, walking on my hands, a cartwheel, and a round off. However, I am afraid to try and do a hand spring or front flip, whatever you prefer to call it, because when I was younger I tried it and I hurt my back pretty badly. But I am determined to do one, I just need to figure out how to do it right, or at least how to start off. Any tips/instructions for a beginner?

  1. well i wudnt recomend starting with the front flip- do that on a trampoline at first, but i think u cud start off with the fronthandspring by doing a fast front walkover then put more spring into it and land on 2 feet!

  2. of course you should try them on the trampoline and maybe either go to tumble or get a private tutor. if you need step by step instruction on how to do it you can go to wikihow.com and search for ex. "how to do a ........." and it will give you instructions on anything! this is a very awesome site and helped me tons = ] good luck
