Gymnastics beginner-->to competive

Okay so this may sound outrageous but I am starting gymnastics in 1 month-Sept. 2nd. I am 15 years old and ever since I was little I have wanted to fulfill my happiness of being a gymnast. Now I finally am, although I did it until I was 7. I have a question though--how many years or how long will it be before I could compete if compete at all? Does it just depend on how my progress and skill is or is there a minimum number of years before you can compete. Thank youuu:D
