I am 13. Just turned on june 28 and i want to start gymnastics. i am about 15-20 pounds overweight for my height (5',2"). I am able to do a cartwheel, round off, back bend, somersault, backwards somersault, handstand. Would it be ok for me to start in about a month or to? How much would it cost? Is there even classes for beginners at my age? Would i be able to or would my weight stop me? Please, mature and honest answers.

  1. ok well i am happy you want to get back into gymnastics so thats off to a good start i would reccomend starting in a beginner and  you will move up fast and its ok to be 13 and in a beginner and it will cost you quite a bit when you start moving up so what you want to do is start looking for a gym near and go from there and you will have to have a commitment to this sport! so good luck!!

  2. that is a great age to start! usually it is easier to start when your around six or seven but it doesn't matter and its never too late. prices vary from school to school, but for a good, educational, fun academy would be somewhere around 500 dollars to 650.00. all of the things that you are able to do are perfect for beginners in recreational gymnastics. you'll notice a massive change in your flexibility and your skill level within the year. if your starting in a few months, prepare your self by stretching twice daily. once in the morning and once before bed. this will get your body used to the change before you start so that way it wont be as tiring as it would be to start so much activity with out much notice. stretch every part of your body for at least 15 seconds (counting one mississippi, two mississippi and so on) stretch your back, your neck, wrists, ankles, legs, arms and shoulders. please recognize the difference between stretching your self past your mental limit and stretching past your physical limit. so many athletes injury themselves from training through injury or even if their bodies are too tired. those people end up not being able to compete because of how badly they hurt themselves from training. so when your body says stop, listen to it. well i hope i helped and i hope you have a great time doing gymnastics! it is a wonderful sport! =D <33
