Gypsy Robin set for the Test Stakes at Saratoga
The Grade 1 Test Stakes has brought together a mix of ten three-year-old contestants who have gathered for the seven furlong race, having raced at different levels. Some are very lightly raced while some have already tried their luck in the graded company. The race will be held at Saratoga on Saturday, 25th August. The prize money at stake is £193,548.
The most accomplished entry in the field is the three-year-old filly, Gypsy Robin, as her experience with the graded races is the most enriched. She was quick to break the maiden as she did that at the very first opportunity at Keeneland on 22nd April, 2011.
Her brilliant performance got her an entry in the Grade 2 Queen Mary Stakes but she suffered at the hands of a seventh position failing to maintain her winning composure.
Daaher’s daughter had her next stop in the Grade 3 Schuylerville Stakes on 22nd July, 2011 at Saratoga over six furlongs. The race was won by, Georgie’s Angel, but also marked the last time that she lost for the next three coming up races. One of them was a success in a grade 2 event.
The Wesley A. Ward trained won the Sorority Stakes on 5th September, 2011 at Monmouth Park over six furlongs. It took her a minute and :10.98 seconds.
Riding with jockey, J. Sanchez, the three-year-old won the seasonal debut that presented itself in the form of the Grade 2 Beaumont Stakes on 15th April, 2012 at Keeneland over seven furlongs.
The Gatewood Bell, Wesley A. Ward and Wes Welker owned struck the first hat-trick of the career by claiming the Inaugural Stakes on 16th May, 2012 at Presque Isle Downs over six furlongs. In a minute and :09.88 seconds Gypsy Robin raced across the wire setting Brilliant Katie as the runner-up.
It was the first time that she raced and won with the jockey, J. Garcia.
She once again fell back on the rankings right through the very recent start and has the chance to bounce back again today. The 16 to 1 entry for the race will be paired up with jockey, J. R. Velazquez and the two will race out of the seventh gate.
