I wonder if anyone can help, My boyfriends Dad was a traveller, who lived in North London. Unfortunatly, after my boyfriend was born, only has vague recollections of his father. Im interseted in the whole culture, and the very family orientated lifestyle of gypsies.I know there is a lot of un answered questions about the way he is, he was allways treated as an odd one,but i believe,a lot comes from his roots.can anyone help with my research?

  1. lots of romany sites(not camp sites) on the net.just google gypsy or romany & what area you are looking for.a very tightly knit community,so you should find something. good luck.

  2. There are many sites on the web that will give a wealth of information some people have listed here for you. All you have to do is put Romany/ Traveller/Gypsy Genealogy into google, and your quest has begun.

Here is one site that has a list of family names of Gypsies to look through;   http://www.sarah-henson.co.uk/names/smit...

This link is a forum, where anyone connected to travellers can ask a question. Someone may remember your boyfriends Dad, and be able to give you info. Travellers have a wonderful network, and memories.

If there was any such colourful culture, then it was 200 years ago in eastern Europe.
