  1. Probably fatty.

Gyros served in a fast food type joint are usually a mix of meats (not just lamb) and a cafe probably does not have the budget to buy all-lamb gyro meat.

  2. if its cooked on a vertical spit surrounded by a heat source a great deal of fat cooks off   but its still quite rich

  3. It's lamb and very lean! All the fat left on it (not much at all) is cooked off also. Very good and healthy.

  4. It depends on the store but it will have to be a mix of both. But don't worry, it's not a fattening as rib meat or steak.

  5. Some places use real lamb others use a mix of lamb and beef.

  6. its a bit of both but a good greek cafe uses lamb from the butcher shop and cooked fresh daily.

  7. hi there, having worked and made Gyros meat myself i can tell you that most gyros meat is very fat ,  three reasons why, 1 fat is flavor , very lean Gyros meat is almost tasteless, 2 lean gyros meat costs allot more to buy then fatty meat , that means less profits for the cafe owner, 3 butchers make more money  filling gyros meat  full of their left over fat from all the meat that they trim every day,BUT!  there is a very easy way to tell if you are buying fatty Gyros or not , look at the colour of the meat on the rotisserie, the darker the colour is the more red meat  there is, also they will cook but not over cook the meat because the longer that Gyros gets cooked  the more fat that will melt (render) of it and that means profits that have melted away, so when you want a good Gyros make sure its from a place that  A cooks their Gyros well so its all brown and crispy, B make sure its not from those places that have the meat just standing there collecting bacteria without any fire cooking it, last but not least make sure the colour is BROWN so that your not getting a wrap full of fat

  8. If it's a real gyro-it's gonna be on the fatty side. It's well incorporated in as they make like a 'lamburger' meatloaf thing. but a real gyro will be lamb. oherwise i's just chicken-with tazeke sauce. which is good too.

  9. The original was a very lean cut of lamb.

  10. Without having been there, its hard to tell. It depends on the meat and where its from. Chicken gyros tend to be pretty lean, but pork/beef/lamb tend to be pretty fatty.
