H.S. Prannoy crushes Miodrag Kalicanin to surge into main round of 2011 Bulgarian International
India’s emerging shuttler, H.S. Prannoy surged into the Men’s Singles main round after making his mark over Serbia’s Miodrag Kalicanin in stunning fashion in the qualifying round of the 2011 Bulgarian International, in Bulgaria, on Thursday, October 6.
Prannoy faced no problem at all in throwing his opponent out of the event as he finished the contest in straight sets by taking just 21 minutes. Miodrag completely failed to tackle the aggressive game of the Indian and lost without putting up any sort of resistance in both games.
The Indian played planned and positive badminton in the whole match indicating that he is ready to take bigger challenges. He employed wonderful smashes, fast drop shots and net killings to maintain pressure on his rival. His strategies earned him victory with a stunning margin after a completely one-sided fight.
Prannoy opened the first game in a composed way and got familiar with the conditions of the court in a few rallies in the opening points. He then started to dictate the bird and forced his challenger to move around in the court to return the perfectly executed strokes. Until the break, the Indian was going far ahead by establishing a remarkable margin of 11-3.
After the break, Miodrag tried to display a better game by accelerating his speed but he lost control of the bird. Prannoy continued his uninterrupted run in the first set of the match and ended it in striking fashion by a surprising 21-5 score in just 9 minutes.
In the second game, Miodrag showed some improvement in his game in the starting points but his opponent was playing on a higher level. Prannoy played with precision and tested all of his strokes in all areas of his challenger’s court. The smooth movement of the Indian helped him to get the bird early and dominate the rallies.
In the whole second set, Prannoy remained in complete control of the game and finished it with a 21-11 score in just 12 minutes. The Indian won the battle in just 21 minutes by a 21-5 and 21-11 score on the board.
