    i think H+ build up in the intermembrane space of mitochondria.


  2. the inner mitochondrial membrane acumulates the H+ in its outer aspects while negative charges accumulate in the aspects more proximal to the matrix.The pumping back of the protons into the matrix is what apparently drives the ATP synthase reaction. This also interacts with the ADP /ATP translocase .
