Question:

H.o Alternator vs extra Battery close to amplifier?

pretty much I heard both things in order to get more power to the amplifier:

some people say including kicker company that once you go over 1000 wawtts rms you should add one extra battery close to the amp in order to have their amp to their fullest potential.

some people say that adding batteries is bullshit and that you only need to add a H.O alternator and you are set.

I does make sense that by adding a battery you will double the current to the amp, and this will eventually allow the amp to work at it fullest potential or close to that

so what's up who can break this two ways of giving more current to an amplifier??

thanks for your help

  1. Rule of thumb..you need to add approx 70 amps of alternator output for every 1000 watts .

Check this site out..they have h.o.alternators for all applications.

    ohiogen.com

  2. What about just adding a few lighting capacitors and maybe a smaller battery

  3. high output alternators will charge the battery faster.

adding a battery (inline) to the electrical system of your vehicle will increase power to your amp, but now your stock alternator is charging 2 batteries.

what type of car are we talking about? remember the charging system on your car was designed to power what came on your car only.  adding anything changes everthing.

btw kicker is a great company, i would take their advice before asking some dude on yahoo answers. (even if he went to stereo school and is mecp certified, and does this for a living ;)

i would add a battery first, but you should do both.

    dont blow yourself up.
