It does matter what state you are located in. However, there are local programs around the united states called ASCOG which allow younger adults to work. The program finds you a job that is in their specifications for a younger person. You will be paid through them. The store that is employing you has to abide by their rules. Check for local listings in your area for those type of programs.

check with the local labor board.. most states will let you work at 16 depending on if they sell alcohol or not.. clothing stores let you work a little younger.
