  1. You are from India so there is some good news and bad news for you.

The good news is Harvard has a slightly lower barrier to entry for foreign students because they try to maintain between 25 an 30 percent international students and fewer international students apply than do Americans.

The bad news is financial aid isn't not going to cover you.  Most international students have to have their own sources of money.  You might look into what scholarship/fellowship/grants are available from India because you wouldn't qualify for the ones from the US and Harvard wouldn't loan you 100% of the money required.

You need a bachelors degree and for international students they expect 2 to 5 years of experience... generally the international students I knew there were sponsored by a company from their home country.

If you get in, expect to work your tail off for the first year and then slack off the last year.

Your first year all students are lumped into groups (called sections) that are designated by letters (A, B, C and so on)... you will then be with in that group for the entire first year and will sit in the same class room for the entire year... professors rotate through your room...

Grades are on a forced curve with a percent 5-15 getting honors.. 70-80% getting pass... and 5-15% getting low pass... it doesn't matter if your class is filled with the smartest folks in the world the least smart would still get a low pass...  Get too many low passes and you are asked to leave the university...   That said there is extreme competition...  You tend to form study groups very quickly and if your smart you never form them with section mates because they are your competition.

Your grade is pretty much 50% mid-term/final exam and 50% class participation...

On weekends students tend to party very hard... at least on Friday and Saturady nights....

It wasn't worth it to me... I wanted to change the industry I had been working in... but I soon found that the only companies that wanted to interview me were energy companeis I was trying to escape... even the I-banks and consulting companies I spoke with would end up telling me I would be in their energy business... so for me it wasn't really helpful in that respect.

You should know that of the recent companies from India that I have seen listing jobs for people in India, that the salaries they are offering aren't that good.... from 70,000 to 90,000 seemed to be the norm.

Total cost for 2 year program for someone from India is about 3.1 million rupees.  I have no idea what the typical job in India pays so you will have to figure if that makes sense.

  2. Hey there ! i don't think you require a Harvard Grad to tell you about the school.

Your requirements will be an exceptional GMAT score i.e. 700+

at least 2-3 years of work ex with a job profile that demonstrates your leadership and management skills.

Also your GPA should be decent. Most importantly, you should know WHY you want to do an MBA from Harvard, what the MBA can do for you and what you will bring to your class of Harvard. These important questions require a lot of time to think. You must include them in your essays.

For other information like life on campus and the basic "campus college experience" go to Harvard's website

    http://www.harvard.edu/

there is no place better to feel Harvard. You can sign up n the forums or whatever and speak directly to students who are there.

Harvard is going to be expensive as h**l

so if you need a student loan, contact Credila on the following URL. They helped my sister when she went to America last year.
