  2. If I turned up at your house with a photo of a diamond ring/ car/ rolex watch/etc, showed you it, and said pay my mate now. I'll bring it round in a few days, if you don't like it my mate will come back and give you back your money, would you give me the money?

  3. Careful.....have seen lots of newspaper articles recently about people being taken in motor vehicle transactions done over the internet.  The scam always involves money being handed over prior to delivery of the vehicle.  If I remember correctly, some of the advice was to ask the owner for the vehicle identification number and then call the state's motor vehicle department to verify ownership.

  4. It is a scam mate, forget it, NEVER send money through an unknown 3rd party 'company' - they only cost a few quid to set up. Half a dozen punters like you and then they register a new name and start again.

  5. Hiya

We've just had an email explaining the same thing to us,  regarding a car in AUTOTRADER, a VW Passat we were very interested in. It didn't seem quite right, so i did a search on google for the vehicle purchase protection, which looks ok however going over a number a links this seems to be a very common Scam and one i almost believed for short a time.

  6. This is a very common scam.

The car was advertised at a very cheap price, wasn't it?

The 'owner' said he was working abroad, but could easily ship the car back to the U.K. free of charge?

He said he would sort out any other costs for you too?

He's asking for payment by wire transfer or bank transfer?

It's a scam - if you go ahead, you WILL lose your money.  The person advertising the car does not own it - they have simply used a photo and description from a genuine ad to pretend the car is theirs.

  7. very common con, as has been said - a similar idea to a '419' scam, just avoid any further contact, but ring the police & let them know so they can get this closed down - it may be a huge ring of corruption.

  8. ALARM BELLS RINGING AVOID AT ALL COST
