  1. lol. no.  George W Bush owned the team how could they be successful?  George W Bush couldn't run a laundry mat.


  2. No, but they reached the ALDS in 1996 (lost to the Yankees 3-1), 1998 (swept by the Yankees in 3 games), 1999 (swept by the Yankees in 3 games)

    In 1974, they were the only team ever in the MLB to finish above .500 (.525/84-76) after two straight 100-loss seasons:

    1972: 54-100 (.351)

    1973: 57-105 (.352)

    In addition they would have made the playoffs in 1994 finishing first in the AL West, but there were no playoffs due to the MLB Player strike.
