I lost my boyfriend in the current war.

He is my inspiration for joining the service.

My fathers mind was lost in Nam, wonderful man, a little off his rocker, fought hard for this grand country we live in, and I thank him all the time.

yes i have and i know how you are feeling in a way. But you have to understand that it is war and war has its cost and alot of time more than none it is at the expense of the ones we love. I am forever grateful for the fact that God still chooses to grant me life every morning as well as the my friends and family that i still have. It hurts and we may never kow why we lost those we have but be thankful that we can live on and remember them

yes, Iraq first time and 2003-2004.  Somalia in 1993.  Its part of the job.  While losing people is part of the situation, it is never easy.  because we are a professional force, it makes our buddies even closer to us.  I lost two people that I knew but never anyone that I was in charge of.  Been ambushed twice and I am just happy to not get anyone killed.

yes, i am a Viet Nam war veteran

No, I was in the Vietnam conflict for two tours. Congress hasn't declared war since 1941. Very few people who fought in our last war are still allive.
