I live in Vancouver and my mover showed up wearing a skirt ,blouse and mary jane shoes. He said that the previous customer dropped a bucket of paint on him and all she could offer him was the clothes he was wearing. In all fairness to my mover he called me before he showed up to warn me about his attire and I spoke to his customer to verify his story. THE MOVE TOOK 7 HOURS AND HE DID A FINE JOB BUT i THINK HE SHOULD'VE GONE HOME AND CHANGED.

  2. I'm also a BC girl.  ;o)

Anyway, I've used movers and haven't had too many funny stories! And nothing really bad, either. Hmm... I was moving from Vancouver to Victoria and when one of the movers asked where I was moving, and I said Victoria, he said, "which one?" :S

  3. I worked for - and later ran - a moving company in NYC and one time this (female) customer suggested to all seven of us that instead of a monetary tip we ought to have s*x with her.  All seven of us declined.

  4. I lived on a one lane windy narrow mountain road and it was difficult to find a mover with a truck that could manage it.  Anyway, on the day of my move the movers showed up early in the morning just fine.  I was actually only moving 1/4 mile away to a home at the bottom of the hill.  The moving company charged by the hour and that was great - EXCEPT - on that very same day a mobile home company decided to TRY and move in a mobile home onto a lot on my street - they couldn't negotiate a curve in the road and BLOCKED THE ROAD FOR 7 hours!!!!!!  Here I was paying by the hour - my movers were done, their truck loaded ready to leave we could see the house we were moving into  just down the road and instead all my movers could do was just stand around.  It was horrible.  The mobile home company would not reimburse me and they damaged the mobilehome they were moving.  It was an awful experience - with the mobile home movers yelling at me and threatening me like it was my problem.....well, I guess it BECAME my problem.
