  1. Yeah, I'm halfway through my book.

A big tip, is to focus on your story now, and publishing later. When you're done, buy a copy of the current Writer's Market, there should be a lot in that book on publishing.

For names, I go to babynamesworld.com  It's my favorite name site.

    Good luck.

  2. Good luck. If you're serious about finding a publisher, buy The Writers and Artists Yearbook. Most publishers want to read the first few chapters of a book, and if they like it they might want to see the rest. GET USED TO REJECTION- it took me five years to break into the business, but it was totally worth it.

Good luck, stick with it, and don't let anybody tell you that you can't.

  3. Yes, I have written several, besides having short stories and poetry published as well.

I don't give my ideas away, either. Especially on the internet. It is too easy for someone to copy what you wrote and make it their own work by changing the name. There are evil people all over.

You should *Only* contact an agent (or several, since a lot of them will turn you down -It happens to all of us.) --After you have finished your first draft of the entire story. Why? Because if an agent wants to see your story, if you want them to wait a couple months while you finish it, they will say forget it and go on to some other writer's submissions.

If an agent turns you down, they will not accept a second query for the same work. (Often their entire agency will refuse to accept your queries in that case.) -So be sure you are ready to send the manuscript before you contact them.

(I second the motion about not using capital letters.)

No offence, but you see, when I see this question all in caps, make me immediately think you are not too familiar with typing and the "rules" of conversation. Hopefully, you will be writing the story with proper grammar.

I noticed three misspellings. ("Im" (2 times) should be "I'm" or "I am", then "Chareter" should be spelled "Character"). So be sure and run a spelling checker on anything you write.

Next, I notice that this was written as one single "run-on" sentence. You haven't used a normal period, even at the end of the last sentence. Be *sure* you run a grammar check on your manuscript, too.

Most of the modern word processor programs (like MS Word for instance) will do spelling and grammar checking. They are not perfect, but at least it will cut down the errors to a tolerable level.

There is nothing wrong with using the triple-dot (not 4) to indicate something left out, or to show ...a time delay. I use it often, but only in certain places to show one of those two things.

This may seem very negative, but it is better someone tells you what is wrong, than to have you "shoot yourself in the foot".

Bear all this in mind and go ahead with writing your story.  Best of luck on it.

  4. I love writing too! i currently have one ongoing book(36 chapters) and 2 that i have quit. i also won't share my book to friends or family and haven't even thought about publishing since i'm still in high school. It is very hard to give you good advice on the plot or character names if i don't even know the genre of your book or what's it's even vaguely about. As for the publishing, you should wait until you are further along and have things planned out more. It's only been a week, right?

  5. I hope your book isn't all in capital letters? My advice is to tell people about what you're writing, and get them to ask questions about it. Sometimes your friends see things from an angle you hadn't thought of, and that kind of advice can be important in writing a book.

  6. Yes, I have begun writing a book. I think it may be a little early to start thinking about publishing!

We cant really help you with ideas, names, or anything unless we now what you are writing about.

For names you can go on babynames.com and search names by meaning or first or last letter.
