  4. I'm on benefits and get paid fortnightly, alternate Mondays, so I can't set up direct debits, as I don't get paid on fixed dates.  The companies I deal with all charge me extra for payment by bank debit card, plus, in some cases, they want me to ring an 0845 or 0870 number to pay them, generating them further income.  I use the http://saynoto0870.co.uk website to avoid the cost of the calls, but can't avoid the non DD charges, which can be anything from £3 to £4.50 a month per bill.  I've never sat and worked it out, but I estimate I'm paying around £30 a month for paying my bills by card instead of by DD.  That's just the charges, not the actual bill amounts of course.  I think it's a scandal and should be stopped immediately.  Some people don't like or trust DD, where others can't make payments in that way, so are financially penalised for paying by cash, cheque, credit/debit card, even if they pay on time every month.

  5. i think its awful that people are charged a fee for not paying by DD. its not fair on older people who have never had bank accounts. that old lady has been with bt since the 60's and is being charged now for her loyalty.

More people should be doing this!!!! Take them all to court, stop the non DD charges happening!!!

  6. Good on her, it's very unfair on those who don't wish to pay by direct debit, why should BT have it all their own way?

  7. The companies and governments of this country have one thing in common. Wherever possible fleece the public in every which way you can, and if it's not legal, pass a law to make it so.

  8. they charge £5 a month not to pay direct debit..ur avin a laugh !!??

we have that at home...i live with my parents im goin to ask if they pay cash or debit if there dd i will get them to do something about it thats crazy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. These companies have been robbing the consumers for years, it is about time they was stopped doing so.

  10. good for her its about time we stopped these bullies from ripping us off and exploiting people

virgin media i hope your next , money grabbing greedy people the lot of them

  11. I hope she wins her case against BT. They're taking the p?ss in my opinion.

  12. ...I pay my TV licence by direct debit.. and get charged £5. extra for the privilege...???? whatever happened to freedom of choice????THAT is what needs to addressed, in my opinion.
