HBO to televise ‘Floyd Mayweather: Speaking Out’ on Saturday April 21 – Boxing News
Floyd Mayweather fans now have a reason to smile. The unbeaten American boxer will be glorified by HBO Sports’ documentary of his life, which will debut on Saturday night at April 21. The show will be hosted by author and academic Michael Eric Dyson. The
documentary is named ‘Floyd Mayweather: Speaking Out’ and it will be available on HBO on Demand and HBO GO as well.
When asked as to why they chose to talk about Mayweather, HBO Sports’ president Ken Hershman said, “With his extraordinary record (42-0, 26 KOs), Floyd Mayweather has proven himself one of the ring’s all-time greats. Now, we are giving viewers an opportunity
to see another side of the man. Michael Eric Dyson is an exceptional journalist and he’ll explore what Floyd has to say on a number of issues.”
When asked about why they decided to include Michael Eric Dyson, he said that Dyson is an acclaimed public author, a well-known intellectual, professor at the Georgetown University and that he has written 16 books to date. He added that Dyson has also appeared
on numerous TV shows as commentator and has hosted his own radio show as well.
The show will not only talk about Mayweather’s legacy, but will also shed light on his future plans, in specific his fight with Miguel Cotto which is due for May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Mayweather, who has remained unbeaten to date, is said to be
among the best boxers ever. So much so, he is even being compared to Muhammad Ali the Great.
In a recent interview, Mayweather said that he will retire unbeaten and will set a legacy for his nation and upcoming generations to take inspiration from. To date, the boxing great Muhammad Ali has been an inspiration for many aspiring boxers around the
globe, but Mayweather plans on adding his name to the list as well. If he is able to do so, he definitely will be among the top-notch pugilists of all time. It should be noted here that Mayweather has already scored top-position among pugilists today, but
he still needs to do a lot more in order to cement his position among the all time greats.
