HC Bloemendaal to host KO16 hockey event

Euro Hockey League and European Hockey Federation have chosen the Dutch Hockey Club, HC Bloemendaal for organising second phase of EHL Easter KO16 tournament, to be held from 22 – 25 April 2011.
The draw for the second round of Euro Hockey League was held on Thursday at the office of the European Hockey Federation in Brussels, city of Belgium. The draw was made by EHF President, Martin Gotheridge along with Directors of EHL, Jorge Alcover and Marijke
Fleuren while EHF Competition Manager Steve Catton was also present at the occasion. In the draw, HC Bloemendaal Club was opted for the event organisation.
Iconic club of the Netherlands, HC Bloemendaal is one of the quondam clubs, which was established in 1895. This club owns more than 1400 members and its men’s squad earned great name across the globe in the game of hockey. Outstanding performers of HC Bloemendaal
had acquired three European titles and as well as fourteen national awards since its formation. In last European tournament, Jamie Dwyer and Teun de Nooijer delivered brilliant performance and clinched the victory with 5-4 against UHC Hamburg.
According to the KO16 draw, HC Bloemendaal will face the EHL ruling champions UCH Hamburg of Germany and will play next game with the winning team between Real Club de Polo de Barcelona of Spain or Oranje Zwart from Netherlands.
In Pool B, KHC Dragons of Belgium, who had defeated EHL champions UHC Hamburg in the first phase, will contest against Rot-Weiss Koeln of Germany while the winner will fight with East Grinstead or Reading HC.
Beeston of England as per the draw paired with Russian club HC Dinamo Kazan and winner team will face Glenanne of Ireland or HGC of the Netherlands in the pre-semi finals. German’s club Mannheimer has been coupled with Spanish Atletic Terrassa while the
winner will have to face either Pembroke Wanderers of Ireland or Club de Campo of Spain.
Chairman of the Board of Euro Hockey League, Jons Hensel after the draw talking to the media said, “I am delighted that the EHL will be taking place at HC Bloemendaal for the first time. Both myself and HC Bloemendaal chairman Guus de Gruiter are confident
that it will be an event to remember at one of the most famous hockey clubs in the world.”
