HCG level (10pts)?

Question

My last period was June 21st, I ovulated on july 4th (i took ovulation test) and I took 12 pregnancy tests 9 neg. 1 invaild, and 2 ghost lines... My period should have came July 19th - 20th but didnt so yesterday I had a blood test done, my HCG level was 18.... is that good or bad? I know it means Im pregnant but how pregnant? I have another blood test on the 31st...please help THANK YOU!

how pregnant?? i don't know what you are asking.

every woman has a different range in her hormones depending on what stage in her cycle she is at.

if you are pregnant, then your second test should put your mind at rest. best advice is to check with your doctor.

okay so lets do the math!even though you had a + ovulation test onthe 4th you could have actually ovulated within 48 hrs...

so lets just for the sake of this assume that!

that puts us to the 6th...

now an egg lives up to 24 hrs and can be fertilized anywhere in that time...

so that can put us to the 7th...

it can take anywhere from 7-16 days for the fertilized egg to travel down the fellopian tube and implant in the uterus..so puts you at about the 23-24th

and only then does hcg start to appear in your system!

most people won't get a postitive on a pregnancy test (the really early detection kind) until 2 day past implantation because hcg is supposed to double every 48hrs...but it has to start somewhere...so 2-4-8-16-32...and so on...

so you are very early but if it is possible to follow my logic above then it may give you a reason why your numbers are on the low side!...

plus the first number doesn't matter! it's only the next few numbers that show if you HCG is doubling that matter!

18 is very low.  The main thing is that the number keeps doubling every 2 days.  It sounds like you may have ovulated later than you think so your period due date would have been later.

What can a low hCG level mean?

A low hCG level can mean any number of things and should be rechecked within 48-72 hours to see how the level is changing. A low hCG level could indicate:

Miscalculation of pregnancy dating

Possible miscarriage or blighted ovum

When you take a pregnancy test at home, even if the lines are very faint....it is considered a positive. Go to your dr. and let them take a blood test to test the Hcg. The blood test will be the best test and can detect even the faintest amount of hcg. If you are pregnant...you are only about 4 weeks.

My dr. checked mine when i was pregnant and was hcg level was very low...i was only about 4 weeks. Good luck

HCG level of 18 means you are very early in pregnancy. HCG levels should double every 3 days, so your test on 31st should be quiet high if everything is going good.

Test should tell if you are and I know when I had my miscarriage my HCG level needed to be 5 or under....What did your doctor say about the HCG levels at 18?

mm do you mean your progestrone level is an 18 ..when determining hcg they use a four digit number
