HCG level 29 at cycle day 28?

Question

I have been TTC for 11 months now. This last month I was on Clomid 50mg day 5-9. At 13dpo I took a HPT and it gave me a very very very faint positive. I was told by doctor to come to office on day 28 for a pregnancy test. They ended up doing 2 because there lines were also very faint. They said it they were pretty sure it was positive but wanted to retest in a week. I couldn’t wait so I asked for a blood test. They sent me over to hospital lab to get a blood draw. They finally called me at the end of the day and said that the dr thinks im pregnant but my hcg was very low so they want me to go back in 48hours to retest. Im so confused. I have taken 5 more hpts and they all come back, very very very faint. I called the dr office back this morning to ask her what my hcg was and she said it came back 29. Can anybody help explain this all to me. Thanks so much!

A positive pregnancy is anything over 25.  Your numbers should double every 48 hours.  When you go back in 48 hours for a repeat hcg level, make sure to ask your doc for stat results.  This means that the turnaround time on your levels is 1 hour, that way they can call you immediately, at least the same day.

It sounds like a very early pregnancy i had my levels taken on Monday and it showed a level of 21 it then doubled to 49 24 hours later.

I had negative test even my doc said i was not pregnant but i knew 29 is not bad anything over 25 is a positive pregnancy.

If you ovulated later in your cycle this could put you at 3 weeks pregnant,

Hun it will be ok you really do have an early pregnancy i questioned my level at 21 but if you have anothor test and if its in a week you should have a level in the hundreds as it doubles every 48 hours except mine doubled in 24

ok hcg level is what detects your prego. usually the hpt don't detect them untill they are at 50 or higher, thats why such the faint line. hcg doubles every 48hrs, so in two days your have a darker line on a hpt. your only 28 days post your last period, so that is really early!! everything is fine, the levels are right where they need to be this soon in pregnancy! congrats!

Your pregnant!  It's still early but enjoy it!  They just want you to retest to make sure you hcg levels have increased-as they are supposed to do during pregnancy.  Congrats:)

Well, the reason for such a low number is that the little bugger could've implanted just a few days ago.  It does take anywhere from 7-10 days after ovulation to implant, some can be later than that.  Just be glad because you are pregnant!  Any line, however faint, shows that you have hCG in your system!  Congrats and good luck!
