Question:

HD Camcorder question?

I'm thinking of getting a HD camcorder to use on our family holidays, mainly for on the beach/restaraunts etc. Want something thats point and shoot-not into playing around with advanced settings I don't understand. Having spent a while browsing the tinterweb, I reckon the Sony SR10 looks OK. Prefer HDD to DVD/MiniDV. Budget of 600 quidish, ease of use and decent quality count. Any suggestions/advice please as I know very little about this subject. Thanks in advance

  1. Be sure your computer and video editing application can handle AVCHD - That is the format used by many hard drive and flash memory camcorders to store high definition video.

  2. I bought a SONY HD camcorder last year around this time, I use it only for private purposes, like you, recording vacations, birthdays etc, and I am very, very satisfied.

I am not quite sure about the exact number of the model, but I know that it has 40GB of HD, and you can record up to 28 hours of hugh quality  video with it, plus you can take 4 MP pictures during recording, and there is no pause when you watch the video latter.

So my, advice, go with SONY, surf the web-you'll find the right one :)
