HD Channels aren't as loud as non-HD channel.

lets say i'm watching NBC, if i switch from HD to non-HD, i have to lower the volume.

how do i fix this?

  1. There isn't really a way to fix it. It is the nature of the difference between analog and digital.

    Digital can not take "overdriving" the audio level. It will just get cut off if it is too high.

    Analog CAN be overdriven and has a lot more leeway. Overdriven signals may get distorted, but they are still there.

    There are ways around it, but they are so convoluted and expensive that they aren't worth it.

    Try muting your TV before you switch.


  2. How is your receiver (cable box or sat box) connected to your TV? it may be a lose cable or simply that a cable is old and carry sound as well. check your cables and connections

  3. You can't. I know, it's a pain! Not only that, but when the commercials that aren't HD come on the HD channels, it blasts you out of the room! When everything is switched to digital in Feb, it won't be a problem anymore.
