HD DVD help please!?

Question

just got a hd dvd i hooked it up (the powercord and the hdmi cord(have all the other cords with my stereo)) but now that i have it on the place where the dvd goes in keeps going in and out but when we place the disk in there it wont go in....is this something we are doing maybe there is a lock or something? or is this because it is jacked up?

Firmware issues or scratches would not prevent closing the disk drawer (which is what I understand is happening).

Assuming you have the player turned on and fully booted up (it's really a small computer), the open/close button will open the disk drawer (You say the player is functioning correctly to this point). If you put the DVD or HD DVD in (label side up/shiny side down), and push the open/close button again the door should close and the disk start to load. If there is a problem with the disk (scratches, incompatible format, etc) it won't load (but the door will close, at least initially).

If this isn't happening I can only think of two possibilities ... the disk may be improperly seated in the tray or the machine isn't working right. If the door closes, the disk starts to load and the door then opens there is a problem with the disk. You should also get a message on the display.

I suggest trying a different disk ... try a DVD (you don't need an HD DVD disk. Make sure the disk is inserted correctly in the drawer. If you still can't get it to work I suspect you have a faulty player, so contact the store or simply take it in and get them to try it.

do you at least see a picture? Also make sure the toshiba has the latest firmware, literally the newest updates ensure certain disks play.  Lst but not least try a different disk in, if a scratch is on a certain pet of the disk it may simply not play!
