HD? If I run my satellite box through a 1080i upconversion DVR, will I get a HD quality picture?

And no, I will not be able to pause live t.v. because its not a DVR from Dish or anyone, it is one that I bought from Wal-Mart...a Magnavox. Thanks. And the first answer didn't answer my question at all.

yes, you will also be able to do many other things with your DVR like pause live tv!

There is only so much upconversion can do on a 480i signal.

If you have an HD set-top box, composite output will be 480i and NO, the output of the DVR will not be HD quality.

If you want HD quality you need to get an HD set-top box AND HD programming.

If the satellite antenna and the receiver are  HD capable, then the signal going to your DVR can be HD. Of course you need a HD-ready TV set too!
